Alarmed by a bad omen, Tanya ends up battling Lenore for control of Ray, who is worried about his future after hearing rumors from Mike about layoffs at school.

After a satisfied client expresses no intent of reacquiring Ray’s services, Tanya is disappointed and later begins to pitch their business to her co-workers. Damon hangs out after school with his bisexual friend in detention. Ray chances upon Lenore at the mall and receives lessons in branding.

Ray asks Tanya for relationship advice; Tanya receives some unsolicited marketing tips from Lenore; and Ray finds himself in an awkward place while at a barbecue given by Jessica and Ronnie.

Ray meets Gemma outside a building but is unsure what they’re doing. She won’t tell him and tells him not to be nervous.

There’s a woman at the side of the road changing a tire. Ray stops and offers help. She wonders if he always rescues damsels in distress. He says it’s his first time. When he’s done he asks her to lunch. We cut to them banging in the bathroom. She’s a screamer.

Ray is hanging in the back of the cafeteria as the students are showing a slideshow of his life: star athlete to beloved teacher. The student giving the speech talks about how Coach Ray has always been there for them and when they go off to school and to live there lives he will always [...]

Ray busts out of his tent in the middle of the night shivering. He runs to the edge of the lake and pees. His neighbor, Koontz, comes running out, outraged, pointing out that what Ray is doing is illegal. Ray informs him that he’s been peeing in this lake since he was 3, before Koontz [...]

Ray is a high school history teacher and basketball coach. Everything in his life is falling apart. As he speaks we see the rundown place Detroit has become from car graveyards, closed factories, and boarded up buildings. He talks about how sad this crazy world would’ve made his ultra-normal midwestern parents.
